The Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD) earlier this evening issued an alert that a nine-year-old girl is missing in Costa Mesa. Sarah Guardado Ruiz, 4’11” and 100 lbs. has been missing since 6 p.m. today.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., NBPD reported that Ruiz has been found and is safe. “Today at 6 p.m., 9-year-old Sarah Guardado Ruiz ran away from the 3000 block of Johnson Ave. She was located just after 11 p.m. and is safe,” read the alert.

“Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word,” tweeted the Costa Mesa Police Department.

And from the West Oceanfront team, thank you to our diligent readers for keeping on this story, including one who commented on this very post about her safe return even before the official NBPD follow-up alert was sent.
