Summer Events at Ra Yoga

In case you forgot, we’re big fans of Ra Yoga. (We interviewed co-owners Robert Kittleman and Jenny Vande Hei on the studio’s two-year anniversary.) And really, we’re just big fans of yoga in general. It’s calming, restorative, non-judgmental and all the things you need it to be amid the chaos of a chaotic world.

If you’re looking to dive into a downward dog this summer—or simply want to see what the whole yoga thing is about—Ra Yoga is hosting some awesome workshops and events at its Newport Beach and Costa Mesa locations: 

Buti Yoga with Kellie Johnston Workshop

June 24, 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Buti Yoga workouts transform your BODY + SOUL with cardio-intensive bursts of tribal dance, primal movement + conditioning woven into a dynamic yoga practice. In this workshop, Kellie will explain the history of Buti Yoga, the breakdown of movement done throughout the practice, explain the chakra balancing sequence, and will lead a 75-minute Buti Yoga class. Please bring a yoga mat and water.

Ra-Storative Live Music

June 25, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

This special class will show case Steve Velez, a cellist who will perform live music in sync to the flow of the class. Join instructor Chelsea in this relaxing, restorative class.

Coffee Talk

June 29, 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.

In honor of our Summer Sweat Yoga Challenge, we’ll be offering FREE coffee and breakfast snacks! Grab a friend or meet some new ones over yoga and coffee, on us! Featuring MoonGoat Coffee at Ra Yoga Costa Mesa.

Live Music Hot Ra Yoga

July 14, 5 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.

This 75-minute, heated class is set to live music, with guitarist Lyndon Forrester. Hot Ra is great for any student trying heat for the first time, as well as the dedicated hot yoga practitioner. While encouraging students to hold these postures from 30-60 seconds, teachers will explain the benefits and proper alignment for every level, beginner to advanced. Learn to improve mental endurance and flexibility, while detoxifying your body. This sequence is designed to systematically open the body while stimulating digestion and massaging organs and lymph. This class style is a set series.

Ra Kids Summer Camp

July 16 – August 22, Mondays & Wednesdays, 1:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Join Christine Rolfe and Mandy Marie for a jam-packed, fun-filled summer camp program at Ra Yoga. Each week, kids will explore breath and body movement through strength, flow, acro yoga, as well as the practice of being mindful. Along with obstacle courses, and yoga games, Ra Kids Camp will introduce core mindfulness and meditation practices in a fun, playful way that children will love. his Kids camp offers your little ones a strong and centered foundation to grow and develop from. Children are introduced to breath awareness, the mind/body connection and focused attention. Benefits include increased attention and concentration, self awareness, creativity, self regulation, state of calm/peace and increased social skills. Mondays are for Yoga Play and Wednesdays are all about mindfulness!

Third Dreamer Sound Healing and Spoken Word

July 21, 7 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.

Join David and Mona as they create a meditative tapestry, combining traditional sound healing, guided meditation and spoken word. Singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, an ocean drum and many other tools and instruments are used taking you into a deep meditative state.
