South Cove Is Dana Point’s Newest Luxury Living Community

If you’ve been thinking about putting down roots in Dana Point—just a hop, skip and northbound cruise on PCH away from Newport Beach—a new luxury condominium community called South Cove might be your ticket to coastal bliss. The 168-residence enclave, a brainchild of Encinitas, Calif.-based developer, Zephyr, is located right in the heart of Dana Point, with immediate access to Dana Point Harbor and Doheny State Beach.

“We’re thrilled to open our doors to the community,” said Sales Manager Marcie Cole at the South Cove launch celebration in December 2017. “South Cove is the first project of its kind to be built in Dana Point in more than 25 years, and the excitement around it has been incredible.”

South Cove offers one-, two- and three-story flats, town homes and twin homes, all with attached garages. Ranging from 883 to 2,126 square feet, every property features balconies, rooftop decks, ocean views and high-end interior finishes, customizable to meet the needs of discerning residents. Owners also benefit from a host of amenities, including a resort-style pool and spa, pool cabana with baths and dressing areas and workout stations. Prices for homes currently available begin at just over $1 million.

Nearby, there’s also a one-acre park donated by Zephyr, an ode to the ubiquitous surf culture of Dana Point. A life-sized sculpture of legendary wave-rider Hobie Alter is planned for the space, (created by local artist Bill Limebrook), and other Southern California surf greats are set to be memorialized, too.

“The parks will be a forever landmark,” said Chris Beucler, chief operating officer at Zephyr. “The surf park is [as] relevant with my 14- and 16-year-olds as it is with 70-year-old surfers from the area. It’s neat when we can say that about a project.”

Along with this ode to the local surf scene, another highlight of South Cove living is truly the city of Dana point itself, a town steeped in nautical charm and laid-back SoCal style. Endless walking trails, harbor and beach access, award-winning restaurants and chic shops border the South Cove community, ensuring days are syncopated by the rhythm of the ocean and nights are filled with good eats and sandy sunsets, just as you’d expect when living in beachside paradise.
