It was the wise Samuel Adams who once said, “Beer should be cold … and local.” JK, I have no idea what he said about beer, although I’m sure it was something. Anyway, if you’re a local and craft beer enthusiast, here’s where to go on Balboa Peninsula.
Chihuahua Cerveza
3107 Newport Blvd, Newport Beach, CA 92663
This fast-casual spot is an extension of the Chihuahua Cerveza brand, which serves its four Mexican-style beers at its Balboa Peninsula taproom on a pour-your-own-beer wall. Simply purchase a bracelet, tap it against a tap and let the beer flow free. Plus, because the craft beers are all brewed right here in Newport Beach, the prices at the eponymous eatery are incredibly reasonable.

Circle Hook Fish Co.
3432 Via Oporto Suite 104, Newport Beach, CA 20663
As far as beer-and-food-places go, this one is GOOD. The brainchild of Bear Flag Fish Co.’s Thos Carson and fourth-generation Dory Fleet fisherman Scott Breneman (the two have been fishing buddies since childhood), Circle Hook delivers on the fresh fish paired with craft beer. Stop by the small eatery to see what’s on tap and be prepared for deliciousness.

Sessions West Coast Deli
2823 Newport Blvd., Newport Beach, CA 92663
This place is 100% local and 100% good vibes. From the extra-large cookies to the incredible sandwiches and surf-chic decor, there’s nothing NOT to love about Sessions West Coast Deli. And did we mention Sessions serves bottomless mimosas and $3 pints every Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.? No? OK, cool. Visit the Newport Beach location and discover what pints are available (it changes pretty frequently) but they’re always out of the ordinary and always worthy of a rad, beer-sipping time.
