Earlier today, the Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD) distributed its regular crime alert detailing burglaries in the area. Here are the descriptions of the break-ins:
1100 Block of Ebbtide Rd.
This burglary occurred Jan. 12 at 2:00 p.m. and 1/16/2018 at 12:39 p.m.
While the victims were out of town, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s backyard through an unsecured side gate and attempted to shatter a set of French doors. After the suspect was unable to shatter the glass door the suspect then shattered a large stationary window, next to the French door. The shattered window was located in the master bedroom. Once inside, the suspect removed a pillowcase from the bed and proceeded to open cabinets and drawers throughout the master bedroom, closet and bathroom, taking the listed items before fleeing.
Loss: Pillowcase, safe, watches (10) and jewelry.
Suspect Information: None seen or heard.
200 Block of Evening Star Lane
This burglary occurred Jan. 17, 2018 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.
An unknown suspect entered the victim’s home by unknown means and once inside, removed items from the master bedroom and closet.
When the victim returned home he discovered his vehicle, parked in the driveway, with the driver’s side door ajar. Upon further inspection of the vehicle, the victim discovered the glove box open and a duffle bag from the trunk missing. When he entered his home he found the back sliding glass door open, it had been shut when he left for the day. The victim immediately called police.
Loss: US Currency, BMW smart key, duffle bag, passports, birth certificate, jewelry and personal papers.
