Newport Beach Lifeguard Completes Early Morning Rescue

Early Sunday morning in Newport Beach, exactly 41 minutes before the sun would rise, a woman was rescued from the relatively calm waters off Newport Pier. The rescue was reported at 5:59 a.m., according to a Newport Beach Fire Department dispatch supervisor, who also said a lifeguard swam out and brought the female safely to shore. The swimmer’s name and age were not disclosed.

For reference, the swell this morning was small with knee-high waves around the pier.

Stay safe, Newport Beach!
